Former Chelsea Man Questions Moyes, But Should Manchester United Sack Him?

Gianluca Vialli’s comments that David Moyes would have been ‘sacked three times in Italy by now’, bring up an interesting question to the Manchester United manger's situation. Is he getting more time then Manchester United should allow?

Results have been awful, performances have been poor with no direction and there doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel for United fans at the moment. Every good result is followed up by a poor one. The Olympiakos result showed a team devoid of confidence, belief and spirit. So why does he still seem safe from the sack?

The very fact that Ferguson had a long spell at United, which gave untold success, could make the board hesitant to sack Moyes, as in their eyes stability equals success.

If this is the main reason that Moyes is still in a job, it’s a dangerous path to follow, as stability bringing success only works if you have the right man in charge in the first place. Blindly sticking with someone because ‘change is bad’ is dangerous for the Red Devils and could lead to years in the wilderness.

What the board have to ask themselves is this. Do we give David Moyes 200 million pounds to rebuild this team in the summer, or do we have to accept he’s the wrong man for the job and appoint someone else with the task? Whichever decision is taken will be a brave one, but one Manchester United must ponder intensely.
