Manchester City Star Speaks Ahead Of Huge Premier League Weekend, But Can His Side Hold Their Nerve?

Manchester City’s Aleksandar Kolarov has spoken out ahead of this weekend’s games. The fixtures could define the season for City, Liverpool and Chelsea, and the defender has insisted that the Etihad side are not interested in the potential mind games that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, and his Liverpool counterpart Brendan Rodgers, are dishing out at present.

Talking to Sky Sport News Weekend Warm- up, the Serbian international, who was part of Manchester City’s dramatic title winning season two years ago, spoke of the pressure Liverpool and Chelsea are trying to put onto his team.

I think Kolarov was quite right to play down the mind games.  Kolarov and his team-mates have been there before and know how to handle the pressure in the title race, whereas Liverpool should be the ones feeling the heat.

Mourinho, as we all know, has always been a master tactician when it comes to mind games. The former Real Madrid manager has consistently played down his team’s title chances all season despite the position they’re in.

Manchester City play Arsenal this weekend at the Emirates with the chance to close the gap on the top two, with two games in hand on Chelsea.

Chelsea have a team still full of experience in winning the league title and are unlikely to slip up with the games they have left, but Liverpool are chasing their first title since 1990. That in itself heaps pressure on the players to win a trophy that has eluded them for two decades.
