Arsenal: Forget Signing A Striker, Gunners Need A Midfield Powerhouse

A report from the Daily Telegraph announced that Arsene Wenger was said to have expressed shock at sections of Arsenal fans. A few pockets were heard booing his side off at half time during the somewhat lucky 2-2 draw against Swansea at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

The sad thing is this, it’s got to the point where every football fan can probably now see where Wenger is going wrong and questioning his methods of buying players. Real Madrid must have been laughing all the way to the bank after selling Mesut Ozil to Arsenal for a club record fee in a last minute January deal.  A panic buy to impress.  No excuses.

But why another creative midfield player?

Arsenal simply lack physical presence with height to dominate in the midfield area.

After the embarrassing defeats Wenger’s side have suffered at the hands of their rivals, surely he must see sense for the need to add muscle to his side.  Arsenal looked far too small and inferior when they matched up to Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City and were painfully bullied off the pitch in all three away games.

Yaya Toure, Steven Gerrard and David Luiz intimidated the Arsenal midfield on each occasion leaving the defence exposed too often.  Mikel Arteta and Flamini don’t seem to gel well and you can see the battles aren’t being won when it matters most.  Wenger needs to look at the spine of the team that brought him immediate success in the early years, class players like Tony Adams, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry.

Maybe Wenger might gamble on crocked January signing Kim Kallstrom, who could extend his stay at Arsenal next season and start to fine tune his team into title winners.

The only question on my mind is, Chelsea played 90 munites' defensive game at the emirates to gain a 0-0 draw; Liverpool lose twice at the emirates, man city at emirates tomorrow undecided yet.
Does that mean Arsenal players grows big and bullish at home?
The writer only used the away heavy defeats to back up his point, making his theory insufficient on the bases of his argument.
Therefore, making him sounds like one of those fault finders without putting things into perspectives.
If you asked me i will say, injury, referee errors, psychological effects and other factors, is more presentable to be responsible for those away defeats mentioned rather than your mentioned reason. Concerning your 'lucky 2-2 draw' comment: i think you already have a negative mind-set before you even started writing your post. Arsenal was really unlucky not to gain 3 maximum points from that match (aside the stamford Bridge performance), Arsenal was everything that day and surely deserves three (3) points, unfortunately, they did not get that.
If you asked me, i will tell you Liverpool was lucky to win against Sunderland and Sunderland was unlucky not to get anything from of that match. We should talk football the way it happens irrespective of the final results. COYG!!! Lets be real in talking football irrespective of how the present results of our beloved clubs is shifting our original (before) mind-set about our clubs, least we make a joke of ourselves on reality of things football wise.

Too many excuses and not enough results. Pure and simple. Yes they have played better at home, so they should but away from home? embarassing. And you know it!
