Liverpool Linked With Chelsea Star - THREE Reasons Why It Would Be A Good Move For All Involved

Ashley Cole is recognised as one of the finest left-backs in world football. Sounds perfect for a club who are on the prowl for a top class player in that position then, doesn't it? According to the Daily Star, Liverpool will make a move for the Chelsea defender in the summer, so here are three reasons why it would be a good one for all involved.

1) Cole would get a starting slot

Jose Mourinho's return has seen Cesar Azpilicueta cement his name into the left-back slot, with Cole having to accept second place. The England international has made just 12 starts this season.

Liverpool have had problems in that area of the pitch though, with Jose Enrique out injured and Aly Cissokho proving unreliable, so there's no doubt in my mind that Cole would be first choice should he join.

2) Liverpool would get an experienced player for free

Cole is out of season in the summer so there would be no transfer fee necessary, which would be a steal in my eyes. Cole has played nearly 600 games in the Premier League, won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. He has also won the Champions League, a host of other trophies and has averaged 2.5 tackles per game this season.

3) Chelsea can make room for Shaw

Luke Shaw is a wonderful talent and I am convinced that he will be on his way to Stamford Bridge in the summer. My expectation is based on the fact Cole is being linked away, Shaw is supposedly a boyhood Chelsea fan and he would have a better chance of winning trophies in west London than at current club Southampton.
