Player Report: Arsenal And Tottenham Linked With Forward With 13 Goals, But What Could He Offer?

Arsenal are reported to be facing stiff competition from bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of striker Josip Drmic who plays for German side Nurnberg.

The 21-year-old Swiss international is an exciting future talent, following some standout performances this season in the Bundesliga.  

Despite having 13 goals and three assists already under his belt since joining last summer from Swiss side FC Zurich, Nurnberg linger dangerously in the relegation zone, with matches fast running out.  As a result, I think the prospect of playing European football for Arsenal could tempt Drmic, should Arsene Wenger move for the player, who can also play on the left side of midfield as well as the main striker. 

Given Arsenal’s situation at this stage in the league, the FA Cup remains the last realistic opportunity for Arsene Wenger’s men to finally lift some silverware. I can’t see Drmic being interested in a move to Tottenham amidst all the tension there, but would they be prepared to pay over the odds to attract him? Maybe.

Equally, will we see Arsene Wenger take a gamble on this young prospect, nurturing his talent or break the bank instead and tempt a world class striker to the club?

Olivier Giroud’s form has dipped at the worst possible time for Arsenal this season as their title challenge appears to have once again fade away, so attacking options up front is vital to Arsenal’s progress next season. But would buying Drmic be a right move for Arsenal?
