Manchester United Will Struggle To Finish Next Season In Top Four - Here's Why

Manchester United are in crisis right now. I can see it, you can see it, and those who have no interest in football can probably see it.

Sir Alex Ferguson guided the Old Trafford club to their record 20th league title at the end of the last season and the Scot ended his reign at the club. David Moyes left Everton and since the Glaswegian replaced the great elder of Old Trafford last summer, United have had nothing but misery.

The latest to the ongoing list of sadness for United fans was 3-0 defeats to their arch-rival Liverpool and then derby-rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford in March. Earlier this year, Moyes and United suffered a similar result to Chelsea, the only difference is it was at Stamford Bridge.

Old Trafford was once fortress for United under Ferguson, where most of the battle was won in the tunnel even before the referee had blown the first whistle. However, the Theatre of Dreams has now turned into Theatre of Nightmares.

United sit seventh in the league table with 51 points from 31 games and trail fourth place Arsenal by 11 points. With Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in fifth and sixth place respectively, the Red Devils are unlike to feature in the Champions League unless they manage to win it this season.

Moyes' side face Bayern Munich in the quarter final of the Europe's elite club competition. The German outfit just won the Bundesliga earlier this week in a record breaking time and registering a victory over the reigning Champions League winners will be next to impossible task for United, considering dismal form throughout this season.

Should United crash out of the Champions League against Bayern and fail to finish in top four, they will have an uphill task to finish the next season in top four, let alone winning the Premier League.

Arsenal and Chelsea need a striker and both clubs are favourites to finish the season in top four, and they will invest in strengthening the attacking division. Liverpool will feature in the Champions League and will further improve their squad depth as they will feature in European competition.

City like every season, will further look to add quality to their squad. With all top teams going to strengthen their squad, United may find it difficult to attract top quality players without Champions League action.

Should United manager to add world class players, Moyes needs to change his approach and play United way in order to help them finish next season in top four. Can the former Everton boss do it or will he shown the exit door at the end of the current season.
