Chelsea Defender Needs To Leave In Order To Fulfil Potential - Here's Why

Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand has been on loan at Aston Villa since January, and has been impressive so far, as a result of regular starts.

Villa have a youthful squad these days and have players that are still learning their trade, including Bertrand, who has not played enough games for his liking since playing a key role in Chelsea's Champions League Final success over Bayern Munich in 2012. And because of the funds available to Jose Mourinho, in combination with the ever-improving Cesar Azpilicueta, chances of a regular starting sport are diminshing. 

Bertrand certainly needs to leave Chelsea in the summer and sign for another Premier League club on a permanent deal, to be mentioned in the same bracket as Luke Shaw. There is no doubt in my mind that Bertrand can reach a level worthy of international football, he just needs the chance to prove it and I can see a move to Villa as a solid starting point.

Bertrand is 24 years of age now, which will probably surprise most football fans, so there is no time to waste, with the next 3-4 years crucial in determining the success of his career.

This only reiterates my viewpoint that he has to move on from Chelsea, in time for next season.
