Manchester United have had a hugely disappointing season, of that there is no doubt. However the Manchester derby offers a chance of redemption for David Moyes.

However at this season's end, Moye’s will be lucky to still be in a job due to the awful home form, in my opinion. United’s away form has been decent, but the results at Old Trafford have been disastrous. The fact this is the first season after Fergie’s departure has certainly given him some breathing space, as many would have predicted it would be difficult in his debut campaign. After all, he needed some time to get to know the players and to inject his philosophy on the club.

But the excuses and the ‘give him time’ reasoning won’t last forever. 

Tonight's clash isn’t just another derby for United, it’s a chance to show that there’s a brighter future to come. It’s a chance to show the world that Manchester United still mean business and that this season was just a blip.

For Manchester City tonight the goal is clear. Collect three points on the way to the title.

For Manchester United it’s much more important than that, the task is to show their fans that all hope isn’t lost.
