Chelsea: Forget Big Summer Signing And Bring Back Lukaku

The rumours around Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea strike force have been running wild all season, with the Blues being unable to find a constant lethal striker to lead their line. Currently Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres have been rotated all season yet neither has been able to cement a regular start. Chelsea are linked to be brining big names to the club in the upcoming summer to fix this problem, however they may not need to with the return of loaned starlet Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

Lukaku has 10 Premier League goals to his name with Everton and has shown that he is a force upfront with a powerful bullet-like shot surpassing many of the league’s finest keepers. Not only is he efficient with his feet but he can also pinpoint powerful headers to find the back of the net, and assist his teammates as seen in his spell in the Everton side.

Lukaku’s loan has seen the striker come out of his shell, as regular first team football has been able to showcase his ability. This ability has put Lukaku in amongst the rising stars of world football with Chelsea icon Didier Drogba stating in the Mirror that “Lukaku is better than him, when he was at his age”.

When Lukaku’s loan period at Everton ends at the conclusion of the season, there are already rumours that large teams from Italy, France and Germany are going to look to capture the Belgians signature.

Mourinho has surprisingly kept quiet about Lukaku’s form throughout the season obviously focusing on his current campaign with his current Blues squad. However if Mourinho was to let the Belgian leave it may be a mistake he lives to regret.

The youngster's ability to play in front of wingers Kevin Mirallas and Gerard Deulofeu has been paramount to Everton scoring majority of their goals this season.

With this in mind, slipping Lukaku in front of Oscar, Willian, Hazard or any of the Chelsea midfield, it’s a matter of when and not if they will score. Whilst Chelsea will continue to flex their financial benefits and possibly look to sign a big name striker, they may be able to save their money and utilize the rising star they have in their ranks.

I also agree, and I would add that Chelsea still go ahead and sign a big name striker, but then keep Lukaku. There is the benefit of having an extra striker on hand - look at Manchester City - they have about 3 strikers that they can rotate. Yes, he is young and has a "big mouth" - but that is the purpose of the manager - to train a player to maturity.
