Tottenham Lead The Race For Winger - Here's Why They Should Swoop

Despite a late move from Liverpool in the January transfer window, Yevhen Konoplyanka has said he would now prefer a move to Tottenham in the summer. FourFourTwo report that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in discussions with Dnipro owner Ihor Kolomovski over the 24-year-old winger.

It is believed that Kolomovski was one of the main reasons that Konoplyanka’s move to Liverpool fell through, as Ukraine’s second richest man, he is not short of money and saw no need to sell.

But it is Tottenham who are supposedly in the lead to sign him. Konoplyanka has enjoyed a successful season so far with 10 goals in 24 appearances, including one against Spurs in the Europa League.

With all the talk of managerial changes at White Hart Lane, it is difficult to know where the Ukrainian would fit in because we don’t know the system.

However, Tottenham have always been an expansive, attacking team and certainly their free-flowing style would suit Konoplyanka perfectly.

He will offer them something that they had in Gareth Bale, a fast, bold wide-man who is not afraid to hug the touchline and burn his defender on the outside and find a cross.

He can also play right or left, you could have him cutting in onto his favoured right foot from the left or racing to the baseline for the cross on the right.

If Andros Townsend can continue to develop, along with the introduction of Konoplyanka, Tottenham will terrify Premier League full-backs next season.
