Chelsea Victory Only Delays Their Inevitable European Exit

Chelsea booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals with a straight forward victory over Galatasaray last night. "We are a Champions League club and now we are among the best eight, the best clubs in the world," said Mourinho. "The players deserve to be there."

This victory will came as a relief to Mourinho, who was less than satisfied after their loss to Aston Villa at the weekend. The defeat has thrown the Premier League title race wide open again.

Last night's win, although important, will only be delaying the inevitable, with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich still in the competition. For me, it's difficult to see anyone apart from those three lifting the Champions League this season.

Chelsea clearly have goalscoring issues - they have struggled to convert chances in front of goal and seem to lack an in-form world-class striker to finish teams off. Samuel Eto'o and Fernando Torres can't have satisfied Mourinho's thirst for goals and Chelsea could pay the price for not buying a replacement for on loan frontman Romelu Lukaku.

With Arsenal and Manchester City already knocked out at this stage Chelsea could be the only Premier League representative in the quarter-finals. If this happens, it would see Chelsea carrying the flag for England, though I would suggest that would not be for too much longer

No doubt you had similar thoughts in 2012

You surely lack deep understanding of Football. How can you know that this will delay their exit? Did you write the same article back in 2012 when they won the Champions League? Anything can happen, Anything. And being the underdogs is a massive advantage for Chelsea. Remember Only Real and Bayern (and possibly Barca who is struggling recently) are probably better than Chelsea at this stage, as I rank Atletico, PSG and Chelsea at the same level (unless you believe Olympiakos is also better). That being sad, they can still reach the final depending on the draw this Friday. I just find it crazy that you wrote this before knowing the draw results!
(P.S. I think Chelsea have very slim chances to win the CL, but I will surely not say their win over Galatasaray has only delayed their inevitable exit). #WasteOfTimeReading

Sounds like sour grapes from a Goon to me

Were your prognostications the same & so assured in 2012...I think you need a slice of lemon with your 'inevitability'.
