    Tottenham’s Season Has Been A Failure - Here’s Why

Following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat in the North London derby to Arsenal, Tim Sherwood denied claims of a crisis at White Hart Lane, but I have to disagree.

The Tottenham boss acknowledged that a top four spot looks unlikely, however he looked to draw positives from the way his side responded after going 1-0 down early in the game.

Spurs now sit 5th, seven points off the Champions League spots with both the sides above and below them with games-in-hand.

Sherwood’s men have eight games remaining in the league, they are 3-1 down in their Europa League tie to Benfica and are out of both domestic cups. Does that constitute a crisis?

For me Tottenham were a Europa League side last season, and surely after investing £105 million the aim was to push the club to the next level.

But their seven summer signings have failed to improve the side or even make up for the departure of their superstar Gareth Bale.

Tottenham are not in such a position financially whereby £100 million can be thrown down the drain and certainly not with a chairman with the reputation of Daniel Levy.

But how much blame can be aimed at Tim Sherwood? In my opinion, not a lot. It’s not his fault that the club’s big money signings have not adapted.

He has taken on his first managerial post with a disjointed team that is not his own and he is trying to make the best of it.

What a stupid statement to make. You must be about thirteen years old if you think that money was wasted. Look at any players coming into the premiership from abroad and you will see that it takes a season for them to adjust.
Articles like this are easy to write but try and keep your comments sensible.

    Dear Sirs

Summer spending has been a complete disaster. Keep sacking managers is not the answer. Someone is accountable for the mess. Who? Not me Guv!
Enough is enough. There should be a complete overhaul of the club from top to bottom starting with the immediate axing of Baldini. The small minority calling for Levy's head may intensify.
Why the need for a Sporting Director or Technical Director at Spurs. Complete waste of time as we are hardly a Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Drop most of the team and just play the youngsters instead for the rest of the season. They can do no worse than the current crop of players including bringing back our talented creative midfielder Tom Carroll. Surely he is the future of the club?
I rate the full back young Fredericks highly as well. He has pace something distinctly lacking in the side.
Tactically Sherwood got in wrong against Arsenal.
He should have played 2 up front in Soldado and Adebaour and Lennon on the wing at the expense of Chadli.
I shall leave it at this.

    Disillusioned long suffering supporter.
