Brendan Rodgers Tips Liverpool Star For Big Things - Here's Why Sturridge Can Be One Of The Best In The World

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers heaped praise on Reds striker Daniel Sturridge during Friday's press conference and backed the England international to become "world class". The recently-named Premier League Player of the Month for February has enjoyed a prolific spell at Anfield since his £11m move from Chelsea and has established himself as one of the most clinical strikers in Europe.

After forming the deadliest partnership in the Premier League with Luis Suarez, Sturridge, in my opinion, could become one of the best strikers in world football for both Liverpool and England for years to come.

In just 20 league appearances this season, Sturridge has notched up a tally of 18 goals, assisting 5, and is currently the league's second top scorer, behind the other half of the SAS partnership, Luis Suarez. However, it's not just this season Sturridge has impressed under Rodgers. Since his transfer from Chelsea in January 2013, the 24-year old has broken countless club records at Anfield and has scored 32 goals in his 40 appearances in all competitions.

Whether playing wide right, as the lone striker, or alongside Suarez, Sturridge's iconic but questionable dance moves are a regular sight for Reds' fans. He seems to score in almost every game he plays and is currently up there with the likes of Ronaldo, Messi and Ibrahimovic as one of the most prolific players in Europe.

Sturridge has all but booked his ticket on the plane to this summer's World Cup and it will be interesting to see if he can take his Liverpool form into the international stage. In my opinion, he'll be England's key man in ensuring Roy Hodgson's side progress as they come up against the likes of Uruguay and Italy in the tournament's group stages.

At just 24 years old, Sturridge has his best years ahead of him and if Brendan Rodgers' side secure Champions League qualification for next season, England's number 9 can play amongst some of the greatest players in world football and make a name for himself playing on the stage he deserves.
