FLOP: Why Manchester City Midfielder Should Cut His Losses And Return To Former Club

The Independent have reported that Everton boss Roberto Martinez is keen to bring back Jack Rodwell from Manchester City on a permanent move this summer. The former Toffees midfielder left Everton in 2012, to make what he thought was his dream move to the league’s new powerhouse Manchester City.

He has since played just 14 games for the club and has fallen into the background, as well as dropping out of the England picture.

For a player of his age and ability, surely he should target the Euro 2016 qualifiers, but first thing is first, he must get regular first team football.

A move back to Everton would be a sensible and positive step for him, and if he returned he would find a very different Everton than when he left.

Not so much in the playing staff, but in the style and belief that Roberto Martinez has instilled in the side.

Former teammates Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley are great examples to Rodwell that you do not need to be at a top four club to break into the England squad.
