Chelsea Chasing La Liga Striker With 21 Goals - Why He'd Be The Perfect Fit At Stamford Bridge

Reports suggest Chelsea are the latest Premier League club to be linked with Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa. The in-form striker has already notched up 21 goals in La Liga this season and currently lies third in the race for the European Golden Shoe, behind Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool's Luis Suarez. With Chelsea looking to bid £27m for the Brazil-born, Spanish international, Jose Mourinho may have found the perfect solution to the Blues' inconsistent options up front.

Many have been quick to criticise Chelsea's misfiring strikers, and they've been right to do so. Just 14 league goals from Demba Ba, Samuel Eto'o and Fernando Torres combined is enough to show that despite having the best defensive record in the Premier League, it will be difficult for the league leaders to challenge on all fronts without reinforcements up front.

Costa's profile fits the bill - raw strength, explosive pace and an eye for goal is exactly what Chelsea need up front to ensure the supply from the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian leads to more goals. The 25-year old has all the attributes to follow in the footsteps of Sergio Aguero and Fernando Torres (pre-2010, of course!) and leaving Atletico Madrid to become one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League.

Though the likes of Real Madrid and PSG are rumoured to be interested, Chelsea could benefit from their relationship with Atletico after loaning them goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, boosting chances of a deal.

Should Mourinho's men secure Diego Costa's signature, I believe his determination and natural ability will see him adapt his game to the Premier League and replicate his La Liga form, ensuring he remains one of the best strikers in European football.

Chelsea fans, would Diego Costa fit in at Stamford Bridge or should Mourinho be looking elsewhere for reinforcements?
