Arsenal: Why Oxlade-Chamberlain Deserves A Lot Of Credit

Travelling to Bayern Munich and being 2-0 down from the first leg was always going to be difficult for Arsenal, and although they scraped a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena the Gunners are out of the competition. There were a few positives to take from the clash though, the main one being the performance of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

If there was one player on the pitch who looked hungry to change the course of the game, to spark an attacking move or to create an opportunity, it was the Arsenal forward.

Playing in a central role, the former Southampton man was willing to dig deep and work hard for his side in both attack and defence but it was his desire to take people on that stood out. From his 10 dribbles he was successful in all 10.

One in particular had the travelling Gooners on their feet. After taking on a number of Bayern players he drove across from the left flank into a central area but was brought down on the edge of the box.

His strike from distance tested the keeper and chipped in with two clean sheets and two clearances.

For me he was the best man on the pitch for Arsene Wenger's men, although Lukas Fabianski is in for a shout.
