Too Much? Arsenal Should Not Be Held To Ransom By Defender

It is being reported in the Daily Star that Bacary Sagna wants to stay at Arsenal, but wants the club to show how much they value him by offering him a bumper pay deal. Sagna's terms consist of wage demands in the region of £120,000 a week, apparently. which would see him double his current deal. The French right-back's other demands are a signing on fee of £6 Million and he also wants a testimonial.

Arsenal really should not be held to ransom over a new deal, in my eyes. Sagna, who is 31, has been a good servant to the club and clearly wants to stay, but at the right price. The rumour is that he is holding out for at least a 3 year deal, which would see him seeing out his career in the Red and White of the North London club.
Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of Bacary Sagna's qualities, obviously, but if there is one thing Wenger has always been good at knowing when to move aging players on and replacing them with youth.

Sagna has been an ever present this season and should be offered a new contract, but these demands are unrealistic and the club should not entertain these high demands.

I expect him to be moved on this summer with Paris St Germain or As Monaco the likely destination.
