    Moyes: Forget Splashing The Cash This Summer, Opt For Youth Progression

    Manchester United are reportedly going to hand David Moyes a £200m transfer kitty in the summer to bring in world class players to Old Trafford.

    Since Moyes took in charge last summer, it has been nothing but disappointments in the early few months.

    However, the former Everton manager made a statement by signing Juan Mata from Chelsea for a club-record transfer fee of £37.1m in January. The Spain international could feature for United in the Premier League as he was cup tied for the Champions League and the Capital One Cup games, where they have failed to win in either of the competitions.

    Since Mata's arrival, the results have not changed as United are still struggling in seventh place, with 48 points from 28 games.

    With the way the clubs above United are performing in the league this season, the Red Devils are likely to miss out on the Champions League next campaign. Without European football, it would be difficult for Moyes and the Old Trafford club in attracting top class players.

    United could be forced to spend more in the transfer window or place an attractive offer on their targets in the summer, in order to convince players to join the club. The situation could be one of the possibilities if the targeted player is gathering interest from a Champions League club.

    Should Moyes spend the transfer kitty apparently made available to him in overhauling the squad, or should the Glaswegian give opportunities to the young players and promote them to the first team?

    United's current crop of youngsters includes the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Nick Powell, Jesse Lingard and Ángelo Henríquez all of whom are currently on-loan away from Old Trafford. These players will return to the club in the summer and promoting them to the first team would give Moyes more options during the team selection.

    This would help the club save money and give opportunities to the youngsters on the big stage. However, there would be a huge amount of risk involved in doing so, though Moyes has been the master in developing young talents during his time at Everton.

    Is it a worth taking the risk and promoting young talents or should we go out and splash the cash?

    I think we should promote the following players from within the club the coming season:

    • Nick Powell
    • Jesse Lingard
    • Michael Keane
    • Marnick Vermijl

    Make room for these guys with the following leaving the club:
    * Ashley Young
    * Ryan Giggs (sorry!)
    * Anderson
    * Federico Macheda
    * Bebe
    * Nemanja Vidic
    * Rio Ferdinand

    So it is still room for 2-3 players coming in from other clubs. It would be nice with the 2 powerful guys Mangala and Carvalho arriving. Maybe Reus too? And Gundogan? ;)
