Cool And Composed: Schurrle Devastates Fulham As Chelsea Pull Away At The Top

Andre Schurrle has had a mixed time in his debut season for Chelsea. Before this afternoon he had scored three goals in his 27 games but had contributed a huge amount in terms of creativity, attacking potency and has helped the fluidity of the team. He was given the nod today as Chelsea made the shirt trip to Fulham, and he repaid the manager's faith that he showed him.

The German looked lively from the off and was keen to test the Fulham keeper as much as he could. Throughout the game he had eight shots on goal, and although the accuracy was questionable on occasions, he did score three goals and effectively won the game for Mourinho's side.

The hat-trick was a quick one - the time between the first and the third was just 16 minutes, and two of them were set up by Eden Hazard. The other was a Fernando Torres pass.

He was everywhere on the pitch and didn't let the opposition settle on the ball which for a Chelsea player seems to be the norm now.

For me he was one of the best players on the pitch and he took his goals superbly well, so far that I say take a bow Mr Schurrle.

The Blues now sit four points clear at the top with Arsenal losing and Liverpool beating Southampton.
