Forget Premier League And Europe, Arsenal Need To Make The FA Cup Their Priority

Arsenal are enjoying a great run this season, which has been one of the best in recent years.

The Gunners are second in the league table with 59 points from 27 games, trailing league leaders Chelsea by a point and ahead of third place Manchester City by two points. However, the Citizens still have a game in hand.

Arsenal have a tough set of fixtures lying ahead of them in the month of March where they face Chelsea, City, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in the league, before taking on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Bayern have already defeated the north London side 2-0 in the first leg of the Europe's elite club competition at the Emirates. Arsenal have a tough task ahead of them to progress to the latter stages of the competitions.

And should Arsenal qualify for the quarter finals of the Champions League by defeating Bayern, they will face a tough task to overcome European giants like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, should they face either of them in the last eight.

With a tough set of fixtures looming ahead of the north London side in March, Arsene Wenger should have his side's main focus on winning the FA Cup rather than the league to end their eight-year long trophy drought. The Emirates club have made it to the last eight of the competition after knocking out Liverpool in the last round.

The Gunners registered a 2-1 victory over Brendan Rodgers' side in the FA Cup earlier this month and the victory over the Merseyside club have made one of the top favourites, along with City to win the FA Cup this season. The Manchester based club had a 2-0 win over to Chelsea, which saw them seal a place in the quarter finals.

Arsenal face Everton at the Emirates while City take on the FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic at home. Should the Latics knock the Citizens out of the competitions, it leaves the Gunners as the favourite to win the competition if they manage to register a victory over the Toffees.

The remaining teams in the FA Cup are from the lower division, with Sunderland being the only other Premier League side. It should not be of any trouble for the Gunners to register a win over either of these teams.

Arsenal's chances of winning the league could end if they fail to win against Chelsea and City in the league as that will leave them trailing at the top. Unless and until Arsenal manages to seal a victory over the west London club and the Etihad outfit, their hope of winning the title remains slim.

Should Arsenal manage to defeat Everton in the quarter finals, Aaron Ramsey could be available for the semi final fixture which will be played later this season. With the dream of lifting the FA Cup just a matter of few matches away, Wenger should consider the competition as a priority over the league and the Champions League.
