Chelsea Midfielder Could Be On The Move, But Should The Blues Keep Hold?

The signing of Nemanja Matic in January sparked a couple of discussions in the new year. The Serbia international was brought into a midfield in which Ramires and Frank Lampard were operating in the central roles. Then, in reserve, David Luiz, Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel were waiting patiently for their chance, so to throw another defensive player into that there was obviously going to be frustration for some.

With Essien making a move to Italy with AC Milan and Ramires adopting a flexible role in the side it has opened up a gap slightly, but the Mirror are reporting that Mikel has had enough and will look for a move in the summer.

You can look at this two ways.

Mikel has struggled to make much of an impact this season - he has made just nine starts and another 12 as a substitute. He is an aging player who is easily replaced and who Chelsea can function without, but he's a player who has proved a reliable rock in front of the defence for eight years now.

He's not the quickest but his positional sense is solid, and although he can be quite a niggly player he is usually strong in the tackle.

For me he is a useful player, but if he's fed up of life in west London then I'd look to move him on.

Chelsea Fans, what do you reckon?

Pls chelsea needs to be careful pertain to mikel chance for first eleven. this is a player that are sacrifice his attractive style of play at the expense of winning as a team and tactical defensive in nature than any chelsea player which mean his talent wil be needed much more in term of controlling a match that are leading by chelsea. Mikel was an attacking miefielder bt converted by chelsea, killing his attractive football bt restorated by roberto di matio bt directly and iindirectly mikel wins more matches whenever he play than any other chelsea defensive players, it shown that his work or efforts is invisible to all bt deep inside the team that clinch the winning. I'm a chelsea fan morio don make a mistake by realised mikel for any club up chelsea
