Gundogan Would Be Mad To Leave Dortmund For Manchester United - Here's Why

David Moyes’ Manchester United have been constantly linked with Borussia Dortmund and Germany Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan since Moyes took the reigns at Old Trafford in the summer. With the arrival of Belgian Marouane Fellaini many would be excused for thinking that the move for Gundogan was dead in the water, but it seems that is not the case.

Moyes has operated mostly with two holding midfield players and the tactics have been somewhat passive since his arrival. It is clear to me that certain members of the playing staff are not warming to this with a summer exodus on the cards Moyes sees Gundogan as an integral part of the rebuilding process.

So why would Gundogan up sticks from a Dortmund team who are almost guaranteed Champions League football, for a side that look well off the pace?

The only reason I can think of is the financial reward of playing in the Premier League for a big side. Manchester United will qualify for the Europa League at best this season (baring a miracle of course)and  it would be bordering insanity, in my eyes, for Gundogan to make a switch the Old Trafford at present.

That being said Gundogan is still recovering from a serious back injury so there may be clubs that are unwilling to risk a re-occurrence of this. The German’s contract is also ticking down and with a deal unlikely to be reached with the club there will be more takers for the defensive midfielder’s signature.

My god, the writers get dumber by the second. You do realize that despite being out of the champions league, Manchester united is the best supported club in the world? They offer worldwide exposure to players that few teams can even dream of. Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and players grow up dreaming of teams such as MU, Madrid, Barca and co and it's just a matter of time and the right purchases for them to get back on top.
