Why Tottenham And Louis Van Gaal Are The Perfect Match

Following the Euro 2016 draw in Nice, Van Gaal confirmed that he would not be in charge for the 2016 campaign and said he wants to manage in England. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich man also mentioned Tottenham as a possible destination for next season, casting more doubt over Tim Sherwood’s position.

Tottenham currently sit fifth, six points adrift of free scoring Liverpool after their shock defeat to Norwich at Carrow Road on Sunday.

The 62-year-old is certainly a strong candidate for Daniel Levy to consider, having won league titles in Spain, Germany and the Netherlands.

Tottenham fans expect free flowing, attractive football from their team and that is exactly what Van Gaal’s philosophy is built on.

He is known to favour the ‘sacred’ 4-3-3 formation which brought him so much success at Ajax, which includes a holding midfield, a box-to-box and a playmaker.

Van Gaal is a firm believer in ‘Totaalvoetbal’ (Total football), and he will not deviate from his style regardless of pressure from fans, media or even his players.

In a managerial career which stretches 23 years and nearly 800 games, the Dutch coach has an impressive 61% win rate.

For the last five years Tottenham have been a club on the brink of something special and I think Van Gaal’s ideas and experience could take them to the next level as a club.

The sooner the better I think, bring it on we need someone like a modern day Fergie!.

This is a great as well as a last opportunity to acquire a genuine article. As it stands top players at Spurs wont want to be there but with Van Gaal in charge they will not be facing questions about their future at Spurs. Sherwood may allow his players mouth off all over the media like Lloris or Vertonghen lately but Van Gaals name along will be enough to stop all this.Van Gaal knows Spurs squad well , he also knows he doesnt need a lot to turn this squad into a top class outfit with his qualities.Van Gaal has Ajax background meaning he supports Spurs too.

    whats excellent about tim sherwood?

bentaleb might well be a good prospect but would he be starting games at any other side with top 4 aspirations?

would eriksen get game time in a champions league team? oh wait..... he did, but not good enough to start for us apparently.

im not a premier league manager but i don't think you need to be one to spot the glaring errors being made by tim - nice but dim.

    can't wait for van gaal.

Not convinced by your article. Van Gal a bit of a dictator and divides opinions. He caused rifts when he was at Barca and Bayern hence getting the sack. BUT if you want immediate success a big name manager can attract big name players, than Sherwood can. (P.S he is simply just a coach - NOT a manager)
