Wenger Blames Red Card For Bayern Defeat - I Think They Would Have Lost Anyway

Arsene Wenger must be furious right now. After recovering from the 5-1 thrashing from Liverpool with a 0-0 draw with Manchester United and then 1 2-1 win over Liverpool in the cup, they were steamrolled by the reigning European champions Bayern Munich. There was a clear turning point in the game though, the moment when Wojciech Szczesny was dismissed for his challenge on Arjen Robben, and Wenger has pinpointed that moment as one that killed the game.

Now, I recognise that it was a big moment in the game - playing against Munich is a tough ask when you're on level terms, but when you're at a numerical disadvantage then it's obviously going to be even worse - but I still think Bayern would have had too much for the Gunners.

Arsenal started off well, but throughout Bayern had a sense of composure and for me they had the players to go on and win the game regardless. The likes of Toni Kroos and Philipp Lahm completed more passes individually than the entire Arsenal side, while Guardiola had a huge range of options on the bench.

Arsenal look tired right now and I think a couple of refreshments are needed. Fans may be disgruntled by the decisions, but in my view Bayern would have claimed a victory anyway.

    What do you reckon, Gooners?
