Manchester United Linked With Premier League Defender - Here's Why They Should Be Going All Out To Sign Him

According to the Daily Star, Patrice Evra is ready to follow Nemanja Vidic out of the Manchester United exit this summer but David Moyes already has a replacement in mind. The reports suggest that the former Everton manager is interested in landing Southampton starlet Luke Shaw, but will have to fight Chelsea to do so, and I think that he is the very man to take them forward. Here's why.

The first thing you notice about Luke Shaw is his power. Still only 18, Shaw is a stocky player whose physique allows him to power up the wing and bully people off the ball.

The second thing is the way he is able to guard the ball, even when he's not in possession.

The way he can position himself despite being high up the pitch is brilliant to watch and is another reason I rate him so highly. He has a 58% tackle success this season.

When he's in attacking positions his delivery is often strong - he has created 17 chances so far this season in the Premier League - but he is equally as impressive when standing opponents up.

For me Shaw is the future of English football, or at least in defence anyway, and United should be going all out to sign him.
