Real Betis - A Look Back At Their 2012/2013 Campaign

As I had a quick preview of next season for Real Betis in my piece on Thursday, I thought it would be fitting to look back upon what was the 2012/2013 campaign which has been heavily talked about by fans in Spain. Their success last season was extra special for them because back in the 2010/2011 season they won promotion from the Segunda division. Fast forward two seasons they are now in the Europa League group stages. Amazing achievement. This video looks back upon the wonderful season and the players individually.

As we can tell from the video, Betis had a lot of influential players last season and ones of those was the clubs top goal scorer Ruben Castro who finished the season with 21 goals and 8 assists in all competitions. He looks set to continue his fine form as well as he's already scored this season.

An inspiring figure at the heart of the midfield last season was the magician that is Benat. Known for his pin-point passing accuracy and his free kick prowess. However, Betis sold Benat at the start of the season to Athletic Bilbao which is a massive blow for the team but they have replaced him Joan Verdu.

Whether or not the team can provide Europa League for next season remains to be seen, obviously, but for any Betis fans or lovers of Spanish football just sit back and enjoy what was an incredible season of football and one which will go down in history.
