    Damiao dampens Spurs' hopes

It would seem Tottenham might already be feeling the impact of narrowly missing out on Champions League football, with ESPN Soccernetreporting that long term target Leandro Damiao clearly rates them as second choice.

The Brazilian it should be said has not ruled out a move it is just that he has claimed who would prefer a move to a club who can offer European football of the highest level, hardly a stance that is likely to adhere him to Spurs. It is no secret that Andre Vilas-Boas has been tracking the striker for a prolonged period and given the general failings of Emmanuel Adebayor this term that interest is unlikely to have cooled, however stating that you would join the club so long as nothing better is offered is not exactly likely to heighten Spurs interest.

For those of you who sit on the cup half full side of the fence there is a ray of hope, with the Brazilian also pointing out that a sides overall future ambition is also important to him which might just be an angle Spurs could work on. Should they wish to do so though this move like much of what happens in the White Hart Lane clubs window could depend on the future of Gareth Bale for if they can keep hold of their prized asset it would certainly highlight to the world that they are not ready to roll over and accept their current status of perineal brides maids when it comes to securing Champions League football.

This a transfer that could run the distance of the window and whilst this latest installment will not be music to Spurs ears they should not thrown in the towel just yet.
