Chelsea's considerable attacking threat - where do they fit in? (Video)

With the confirmed signing of Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen for £18m, how will Jose Mourinho balance all the attacking talent at his disposal and who will be left out of his plans?

Fernando Torres has not had the best of times since arriving at Stamford Bridge but could his recent form for the Spanish national team continue at club level? Reports in Spain recently suggested that Mourinho had told both Torres and Juan Mata that they were surplus to requirements at the club, which is not so surprising regarding the misfiring striker but quite incredible if Mata is no longer a necessary part of his plans. Could his experience in Spain have tainted his view of Spanish players, particularly after the Iker Casillas saga?

I personally believe that Mata will stay, but that would leave an interesting dilemma regarding the other attacking midfielders. Will an attacking trio of Oscar, Hazard and Mata support lone striker Schurrle? The German international is not known for his hold up play or strength and is more renowned for cutting in from the wings than playing with his back to goal.

Mourinho will perhaps be more inclined to give Romelu Lukaku a chance, as he likes a big strong forward in a similar mould to Drogba to be the focus of his team. However, whether the special one is willing to place so much faith in the young Belgian remains to be seen.

Alternatively, can Demba Ba push for a regular start, as his form for Newcastle was down to playing consistently every week and knowing that he had the faith of Alan Pardew? Since leaving Tyneside he has not been given the same backing. Rafa Benitez rotated him regularly and he now awaits to see if Mourinho believes he is the man to lead the front line.

Victor Moses appears to be looking at limited opportunities if he stays at the club, especially as Edinson Cavani continues to be linked with Chelsea. If the Uruguayan striker joins from Napoli then he will certainly be given the task of firing in the goals on a regular basis.

Every manager would prefer to have too much talent than too little, but Mourinho will have plenty to think about before handing in his first team sheet of the season.
