3 Reasons Why Arsenal Should Forget About Signing Former Midfielder In January

It would take something special to break into the Arsenal team right now. The Gunners are flying and look in no mood to stop so in January the only players who Wenger should be going for are big, world class superstars. The Express are reporting, however, that the north London side are interested in swooping for a player who played for the club for five months back in 2007/08, Lassana Diarra. Here are three reasons why I think they should avoid it.

    1) Competition

Right now Arsenal have the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey, MIkel Arteta and Jack Wilshere who can sit in the defensive area of midfield, as well as Abou Diaby when he returns from injury. Diarra is not a player who could come in and better that group, in my eyes.

    2) No physical presence

Diarra is only 5ft8 and is easily overpowered in the middle. This season for Lokomotiv Moscow he has won just 6 of his 13 headers and has often struggled to enforce himself on the game. Arsenal's current midriff have more than enough players who are of a similar build.

    3) Age

He's no spring chicken, either. Lass is 29 at the start of next season and in my opinion Wenger should be putting his money elsewhere in January. They still look short up top so to use potential Luis Suarez-money on Lass would be a waste, in my view.
