City won't need a new striker in the absence of Balotelli (Video)

With Mario Balotelli all but expected to complete his move to AC Milan before the close of the transfer window, it will surely leave Manchester City short on the front line. Manager Roberto Mancini is a man that likes to have four strikers on his books and with the Italian expected to return his homeland, his departure will, somewhat, leave the Premier League champions short of attacking options.

Despite being able to call upon Sergio Aguero, Carlos and Edin Dzeko, there are those that believe the Citizens boss will need to strengthen further before Thursday's deadline. Yet, that can't be the case for the Italian as he looks to retain the Premiership crown, despite United's lead at the summit of the table.

Yet, Mancini already has a readymade replacement in the ranks in the form of John Guidetti. The young Swede possesses an impressive goalscoring record following loan stints away from the Etihad Stadium, most notably with Feyenoord where he netted 20 goals in 23 appearances.

Guidetti may've only made one senior appearance for City – a league cup encounter with West Bromwich Albion back in 2010 – but he helped himself to an assist in the 1-0 win over the Baggies. If City are all too keen to bring in another striker, they'd be better off saving their money and promoting the 20-year-old to the senior squad.
