De Guzman shines for the Swans (Video)

With two goals in their 3-1 win at home to Stoke, are Swansea about to see the best of Jonathan de Guzman?

The creative midfielder joined the Swans on loan from relegated Villarreal at the start of the season and has played a key part in their attacking play so far this campaign.

After starting his career at Feyenoord, De Guzman first moved to Spain when he signed for Real Mallorca on a free transfer.  An impressive debut season saw him snapped up by Villarreal for a fee believed to be worth around €8.5 million.  The deal initially looked to be a good one for both parties, but a change in manager at the start of 2012 saw the midfielder receive less playing time as the Yellow Submarine continued to struggle and a move to Swansea would follow in July. Since joining the Welsh side he has fitted seamlessly into his former Mallorca coach Michael Laudrup’s setup.  De Guzman has previously cited the amount of faith shown in him by the Danish manager as being one of the main reasons he signed for the club.

Still only 25 years old, De Guzman will hope that his impressive performances continue and he can gain a permanent deal with Swansea in the Premier League.
