    Santos and the twitter trolls.

Those troublesome Twitter trolls have been at it again. I like to Twitter, it did take me a while to come round to the idea but I think it is a fantastic forum for people to share their views on anything they like. The whole trending thing, too, that's quite a smart idea. Unfortunately, you do get those who are a bit weak in the brain and use Twitter to abuse celebrities or sports stars. The red tops love reporting on it and, sadly, it is quite a regular occurrence.

Now, I think that this whole shirt swapping thing that happened at the weekend during the Man United/Arsenal game has been blown up just a bit. Whether Andre Santos asked for Robin van Persie's shirt at half time because he thought he was getting subbed as result of his performance or because it's how they do things in Brazil, I don't know. Really, in the grand scale of things, it is a moot point.

Yes, Santos didn't have a very good game but he has shown in the past that he isn't sharpest knife in the drawer (driving fine, anybody?) so I am quite prepared to let this little shirt swapping hullabaloo pass over, as it will, without much fuss.

In Twitter world, however, it is massive news and Mr Santos's wife apparently used the social media network to try and explain that it was a cultural thing and there was no disrepect intended. This resulted in followers verbally abusing Mrs Santos and, as I'm sure you'll agree, this is quite ridiculous. The fact that she even has to take to Twitter to explain such a non-story is bad enough but getting abused by so called 'fans' just takes the biscuit in my book.

So, a word to those fans then. Get your pathetic heads out of the gutter and find something better to do with your lives than having a go at a footballer, or a footballer's wife in this case, on bloody Twitter. It is so silly and so pathetic.
