    Top5 - Number 1: Gareth Bale

Since the turn of the new year, Bale has been drawing comparisons of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo. Few were surprised, though, as the Welshman has been in blistering form. He has single handedly turned games for Spurs this season and the supporters' hopes for a top four finish were dealt a blow when the winger was ruled out for the next few weeks with an ankle injury.

He possess such power, such speed, and such willingness to run at opponents that he has put himself in the frame for player of the year.

I'm sure Luis Suarez, Robin van Persie and Juan Mata will have something to say about that, though.
