Neymar completes £50m Barcelona deal - video

Barcelona have announced the signing of Santos sensation Neymar for a fee of nearly £50m, BBC are reporting. Roman Abramovich will have his hand firmly placed over his face right now as the glances over to Fernando Torres. The Brazil international has been linked with a move to Spain for some time now but it was unsure whether it would be to Barcelona or Real Madrid, both of whom were supposedly ready to offer the 20-year-old buckets of money to secure his services.

Labelled a YouTube genius he has received a lot of criticism because his talent has not been highlighted on the European stage, but now those doubters are sat with their tails between their legs as they see glimpses of why he was so highly sought after before the switch.

With over 200 appearances for Santos despite his age, Neymar will be eager to break straight into the Barcelona side as they continue their free-flowing, false number 9 game. With Iniesta and Xavi both driving the side forward and four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi at the forefront, Neymar is expected to slot in to one of the wider berths at Camp Nou.

The star said of his move: "My dream has come true. I'm one of the luckiest men in the world to be able to play with him and it's an honour. I'm very happy to be realising my life's dream."
