Tottenham lose out on midfield target but summer re-shuffle still looks likely

Andre Villas-Boas must be throwing a paddy right now. The man who he has been chasing since he departed Porto - Joao Moutinho - has snubbed him once again and moved to big-money Monaco in a deal said to be around £21m. Will we finally see the frog come crawling from the Portuguese's throat?

It's been a tough month for AVB. First he sees fierce rivals Arsenal rip their hearts out by finishing ahead of them in fourth and throwing their sluggish heart straight into the Europa League bin, and now this.

Cheer up Villy, you still have Scott Parker to spark your attacks *snigger*.

A summer of transition looks certain at White Hart Lane as the gaffer neatens his midfield options. Parker is likely to be flogged after a season of injuries and poor form, while Tom Huddlestone's fine performances are unlikely to be enough to keep him in north London. Sandro's injury is widely thought to be the turning point of Spurs' season and AVB is still on the search for an athletic, creative outlet in the middle in the likes of Mousa Dembele, but with more consistency.

Clint Dempsey will be wondering why his seven goals weren't enough to stop his boss' search for an attacking midfielder. Lewis Holtby, Jake Livermore, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Carroll also sit in the midriff, so cheer up Andre.
