Marsh: Arsenal star should reject United

Manchester City legend Rodney Marsh has urged Arsenal striker Robin van Persie to turn down Manchester United and move to the Etihad Stadium.

The Dutchman is expected to depart the Emirates Stadium this summer after rejecting a new long-term deal to remain with the Gunners.

United have been heavily linked with a move for the 29-year-old, but Marsh believes van Persie should move to City as the 12-time Premier League champions are on their way down.

“I think City are on the way to the absolute top of football, while United are on the way down,” he told the Daily Star Sunday.

“City will be the team who win trophies over the next few years.”
