Midfielder snubs move to Manchester City

A high-profile target of Manchester City has dismissed joining the club.

Daniele De Rossi has snubbed a big money move to City and reiterated his desire to stay at his boyhood club Roma.

City boss Roberto Mancini has been a long term admirer of the 29-year-old midfielder and was desperate to sign him.

De Rossi signed a new contract at Roma in February which dampened speculation about his future but City kept up their pursuit of the midfielder to try and tempt him away from the Stadio Olimpico.

Despite a reported £9million-a-year contract, De Rossi was not swayed and told a press conference that he is committed to staying at Roma to give his all to the club and some of the speculation linking him with a move away from the club has angered him at times.
