Villas-Boas to bolster striking options

Andre Villas-Boas has allayed fears that Jermain Defoe will be leaving White Hart Lane this summer by saying he is confident his English striker will stay, and the new boss is also after a new attacking option to partner him.

Defoe remains the only striker currently at Spurs but after Emmanuel Adebayor had a successful loan spell last season, Villas-Boas is hopeful a deal can be struck with Manchester City with the Ivorian. 

The Portuguese coach also suggested that other centre-forwards are being looked at, but a deal is yet to be struck with any targets.
