Wenger: I want van Persie to stay

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists he wants captain Robin van Persie to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

The Dutchman is expected to leave the North London side this summer, having turned down their offer a new contract.

Interest is high in the 28-year-old, with Juventus, Manchester United and Manchester City all keen to secure the talismanic front-man.

However, Wenger told Arsenal’s official website: “There is nothing to elaborate. The options are clear – we want to keep our players.

“I would be happy for him [van Persie] to stay in the Premier League – at Arsenal.”
