Ferguson again forced to rebuff Rooney rumours

The up and down Manchester United career of Wayne Rooney is not exactly experiencing one of its great peaks this season, nevertheless The Metro are reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson is in typically unflappable mood insisting that Rooney will not be going anywhere.

In recent months Rooney has fallen from grace in quite dramatic style; having not been picked for the crucial Champions League tie against Real Madrid, often being asked to play out of position and on several occasions failing to complete 90 minutes before being hauled off by Ferguson. Nevertheless despite Rooney clearly losing his mantra of prime asset to Robin van Persie it seems that he will be heading nowhere in the summer.

Nevertheless things are not exactly rosey right now and for all Ferguson might want to keep Rooney, the player himself might have other ideas given his dethroning. Ferguson and Rooney have been through a lot it has to be said and normally things normally come out smelling of roses again, however the body language from Rooney in recent weeks would very much suggest that the manager is going to have to work more than a little bit of magic to negotiate this one. Whilst normally the Rooney exit rumours are pretty easy to bypass this latest batch might just have a little bit more substance to them given recent events.
