Andre-Villas Boas set for reunion with Porto player?

The Daily Mirror today reports that Tottenham manager has set his sights on Porto winger Christian Atsu, having been the manager to give him his Porto player during his tenure there.

The deal could very well happen. Atsu will only have 12 months left on his contract in the summer and it is rumoured Villas-Boas is set to trigger the £8million clause in the Ghanaian's contract. Surely Porto will not like to see the ugly head of the Bosman transfer rulings at the end of the 2013/13 season, even though they are desperate for Atsu to re-sign with the club which would see his release clause soar to £30million.

If AVB could pull this one off it could be a real coup. However with more than capable wingers already at the club, Atsu could be using his blistering pace to run to the bench rather than troubling snail-paced defenders.

Apparently AVB tried and failed to sign Atsu last summer. The manager's stubborn nature is there for all to see after returning to the Premier League with Tottenham last season following an ill-fated spell at Chelsea.

Atsu will be seen as a very exciting signing however the Spurs fans are also stubborn in their belief that perhaps a striker should be at the top of the Portuguese manager's wish-list.
