Manchester City on track for Edinson Cavani

Reports from The Daily Mail today report that Napoli forward Edinson Cavani has admitted a summer move could be possible, with Manchester City leading the chase.

Cavani has scored over a 100 Serie A goals during his time in Italy with Palermo and Napoli with seventy-one coming during his time with Napoli since 2010. City will be hoping that Napoli can replicate his form in a blue shirt in England as Roberto Mancini looks to bolster his striking options with some South American long-haired flair.

The 26-year-old is also attracting the interest of a “host” of European clubs including the likes of Real Madrid. If it was a straight battle between the sunny pastures of Madrid and the rainy, cold and damp(including City's damp-squib title bid), then City could be second best.

However it seems there will be a demand for world-class strikers at the Etihad as the likes of Dzeko and Tevez have been linked with moves away in the summer. A South American partnership of Aguero and Cavani could be enough to send Mancini into huge fits of excitement, celebrating the signing just as he did when City scored the winning goal to clinch the title last season.

I would pay to see that exciting press conference...
