    Ferguson squashes Falcao rumours

    For weeks we have been hearing about money bags Chelsea and Manchester Citytracking Falcao, one of the most the sought after men it world football. So it was a bit of a shock to hear recent stories strongly linking the Colombian with a move to Manchester United, however ESPN are reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson in very much typical Fergie fashion has been quick to pour cold water on such reports.

    That will probably come as a relief to Manchester City given that United pipped them to another world class striker at the start of last season in the form of Robin Van Persie, a move that many would argue is one of the key reasons why the title it heading to Old Trafford.

    Given that United already possess four strikers of real quality adding Falcao might give Ferguson more head aches than he would feel are worth it, not only in regards to deciding who to pick put also in terms of keeping all of his forward players happy. That said the cynical individuals amongst you might just wonder if yesterdays decision to play Wayne Rooney in midfield was a little bit of experimenting over whether the club could fit in another world class striker....
