City close in on teenage target

It would appear that if The Metro are to be believed then Adam Maher is very much Manchester City bound, with AZ Alkmaar set cash in on their young starlet.

City certainly need fresh blood given that it is widely believed that the current squad has gone more than a little bit stale, Maher at just 19 years old would certainly add much needed youthful energy to the midfied. He might only be a teenager but he has already made quite an impact in Dutch football; he is currently enjoying his second successful season with AZ whilst his performances have been so impressive that he has already been capped by Holland.

City are believed to have company in the fight for his services with a host of top Premier League clubs more than keen but with negotiations already underway between the two parties it would take a brave man to bet against Maher not playing at the Ethiad next season.

The bid needed is likely to be £15 million, which lets face it is small money for what City are going to spend on their shopping spree this summer as they look to get back on track whilst if Maher turns into the player we are told he will then it should turn out to be money well spent.
