AVB plans summer move for Toffee midfielder

The Metro suggests that Andre Villas Boas will make an offer for Everton’s Leon Osman during the summer transfer window. Tottenham are said to be willing to offer in the region of £6million for the technically gifted midfielder, as well as the potential inclusion of fringe players such as Danny Rose or Andros Townsend.
Osman has impressed again this season with displays of creativity and guile in the middle of the park. A marvellous recent goal against Manchester City, his 50th for the club, and being awarded his first England cap in November stand out as particular highlights. At 31 years old, any further attractive opportunities such as a move to Spurs may be in short supply and Osman may use his diminishing contract length, currently two years, to force a move from Goodison Park.
The departure of Osman to White Hart Lane, or elsewhere, would be hugely frustrating to Everton’s long serving manager. David Moyes has expressed his frustrations, on numerous occasions, at the lack of investment available to him, and losing one of his most influential players to a positional rival may have further negative implications for fans of Everton. The 49 year old Scot is yet to have committed his future to the club, and the sale of key players is unlikely to aid any contract negotiations.
