Speculation surrounding QPR striker Remy intensifies

Loic Remy seems inadvertently to be trying to crowbar his way into every gossip column up and down the country on a daily basis as The Metro reports that both Aston Villa and Newcastle have stated their interest in activating a £8million release clause should QPR be relegated this season.

Whilst that now looks inevitable it seems the question surrounding the talented forward will be not if he leaves in the summer but where he will leave to.

Remy has proven himself already to be a quality Premier League goalscorer and a striking partnership of Remy and Christian Benteke could be a mouth-watering prospect for Villa fans next season.

However it is reported that Newcastle could be the more appealing destination as Villa themselves find themselves deep in the relegation dogfight with the magpies perched precariously above them.

Should Newcastle secure the Europa League title that could go a long way to convincing Remy his future lies alongside scorer of great goals Papis Cisse who netted an impressive injury time winner against Fulham last weekend.

Clubs higher up the league such as Tottenham and Arsenal have also been mentioned in previous days which could see Geordie fans and Villa fans empty handed in their bid to secure Remy in the summer.
