      Dortmund step up Dzeko chase

With Robert Lewandowski seemingly set to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer, the Bundesliga champions are eyeing up Edin Dzeko to take on the goalscoring mantle next season says The Metro.

Dzeko has found himself in and out of the Manchester City starting line up during his entire spell at the club, despite scoring 28 league goals in his 68 appearances. The Bosnian international has had previous success in Germany with Wolfsburg and could well favour a move to Dortmund to join an exciting team under every football hipsters' favourite manager Jurgen Klopp.

Lewandowski meanwhile has been heavily linked with Manchester United and Bayern Munich with the Pole yet to sign a new deal with Dortmund.

Another name Dortmund are pursuing who United fans might be familiar with is Mame Biram Diouf. The Sengalese striker has been in good form for Hannover this term scoring 14 goals in his 25 appearances.

So will we see a striker merry-go-round at some of Europe’s top clubs this summer? Lewandowski’s departure freeing up Dzeko to move to Dortmund and then City splashing out on Edinson Cavani or Radomel Falcao? Or another season of Dzeko lumbering around at the Etihad just about scoring enough goals to disguise how terrible he actually is at football. Yeah, that one.
