Rush adds more fuel to Williams link

Ex players can be nothing but trouble, with them having so much time on their hands and all that they find plenty of opportunity to spurt off about which players their ex clubs should sign and other trivial issues. This time it is Ian Rush who has been at it, with The Metro claiming the ex Liverpool striker has announced that Ashley Williams would be a perfect signing for his club.
This is likely to go down as a lead balloon with Swansea, given that there are already an endless number of stories about the Welsh captain joining his former boss at Anfield. Unfortunately whilst the departure of Rodgers has not affected the club particularly up to now, it seems that the damage of his exit might not be done just yet with Williams being heavily linked to the club.
With Jamie Carragher retiring at the end of the year it seems that Williams is now everyone's favourite to replace the Anfield legend. If Liverpool are to get their man though Swansea are unlikely to be seen off easily with European football coming to The Liberty next year and the club only going in one direction, so for as much as Rush and co might like Williams they would do well to remember he is still very much a Swansea player.
