Emenike makes a name for himself in South Africa

Shining for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, Emmanuel Emenike has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports, however, the striker is happy at his current club Spartak Moscow and does not intend to leave Russia any time soon. Despite shrugging off the rumours, Emenike did express his admiration for England’s top flight and indicated that one day he would like to play there.
The 25-year-old is currently joint top-scorer at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, his fourth goal of the tournament coming against Ghana on Wednesday to help send Nigeria through to the final in Johannesburg. He has previously played his club football in 2013’s host nation, for both Mpumalanga Black Aces and FC Cape Town.
Emenike’s best scoring record is with Karabukspor, where he incredibly found the net 30 times in 50 league games. His goals led to the side winning the Turkish second division and gaining promotion to the Super Lig in 2010, before he helped the club secure a mid-table finish the following year. Allegations of match-fixing surrounded a move to Fenerbahce, but subsequently signing for Spartak Moscow enabled him to escape the controversy.
Emenike may now be focusing on his country’s attempt to win their first Africa Cup of Nations for 19 years, but his impressive performances will no doubt lead to further speculation in the summer. Should Nigeria lift the trophy, the striker’s taste of success could make him hungry for more.
