Coloccini still has a job to do on Tyneside

It would appear that Fabricio Coloccini is looking for a move away from Newcastle in the summer.

According to Sky Sports, talk of returning home to Argentina due to personal problems developed during the January transfer window, but Coloccini ultimately found that he would be remaining at St James’ Park.

Many Toon fans seem divided in their opinions on the matter, with some unhappy at the way he has handled the situation and others more understanding of the reasons he wants to leave.  The club that were reported to be interested in signing him were San Lorenzo, who Coloccini enjoyed a successful loan spell with 12 years ago.  Unfortunately for the homesick defender, the Argentine club’s finances and the fact that he is still under contract at Newcastle meant that any move was unable to take place.

Whether a deal can be reached in the summer is yet to be seen, buy Coloccini has insisted that he is fully committed to helping Alan Pardew’s side until the end of the season.  Recent victories have seen the Magpies move away from the relegation zone, but they are not completely out of trouble yet.

As Newcastle’s captain, can Coloccini lead his team-mates to Premier League safety?
